Nina Murashkina is a Ukrainian artist, born in 1985 in Donetsk. She works in different mediums: painting, graphics, installation, and ceramics. Murashkina’s artwork revolves around tabooed themes such as violence and corporality, showcased through a purely feminine lens. I‘m erotic and see the world in an erotic context, Nina says. She describes her own artwork as the delicious details from the Subconscious and the extreme limits allowed in social relations.
Having a classical art education, Murashkina often citates classical masterpieces in her paintings. Nina also works with ceramics, initially inspired to try this medium by Grayson Perry. The format of vases allows for an uninterrupted scene to be shown, as the painted scene wraps around the vase. Murashkina interweaves mythology and literature into her scenes to depict modern feminine stories. She personally designs the shape of her vases, so that each of them is unique. Murashkina’s ceramics was short-listed for Best Design of the Year at the FAD Art Awards 2023 and exhibited in a Disseny Hub Museum Barcelona.
“The main topic of my research in art is the psychology of sexuality, personal drama, raised in cult.”
